Second breakfast, nostalgia, weekends

So this morning I was able to remember why I LOVE cookie crisp so much, as I poured myself a bowl of KooKies (the Hannaford version, which is really pretty good), plopped in front of Caillou with Jake and ate. YUUUUMMMMMOOOO!!! That was at 7 this morning. 9:30 my tummy wakes up and starts wondering just where the hell second breakfast got to. Not that I'm used to my tummy gurgling that early, but that's ok, I was smart and brought strawberries from home. I had a REALLY big one too...

and it was good! And that along with 4 little friends was second breakfast. It's 12 and I'm eating lunch (that'd be an hour early if your counting) and since it's not 1 yet and amc is not on yet, i'm eating at my desk. Well, ate at my desk, LOVE me some mac n cheese! I swear this kid is going to be born a bowl of the stuff! Anyway, hopefully i wont need anything else this afternoon, since I ate the last of the Milano cookies yesterday. Whoops!

Yesterday I was poking around on myspace and found my first love. It is so funny that my memory from before 10 is horrible at best but I can remember SOOO may occasions spent with him. Even funnier because he lives in NY and I only saw him summers when I visited my Dad. From 6 until about 17 I saw him almost every year, and always felt like he was it. The one. boyfriends, sure. Fiancee's, yeah whatever. He was it, even if I didnt know how that was gonna happen. I remember sitting in his fathers tool shed talking with him and thumbing through the Penneys cataloug looking at wedding dresses. I think we were 10. I know, stupid girl stuff, and thats true. I'm sure this silly stupid grin on my face has led my boss to think i'm drinking on the job, but i'm giddy. We sent a few emails back and fourth last night, and apparently he had been looking for me too. Even went by my dads house, but no one was home. Oddly enough I did the same thing - went to his dad's place a few times. Actually talked with his dad once. He's married now with 2 kids. The gal he's married to is the same gal he was with the last time I saw him. Ironic I think, but I guess not that strange. Looks like our 'it' aint gonna happen. Thats ok though, I think the memory is better than real life could ever be.

This weekend - all 4 days of it - I will be doing nothing. Last night was raining so I couldn't take Jake to Superman, I'll try again tonight. I hear it's pretty good which is nice. I'd hate to sit through a crappy movie, even if it is for my kid. Sunday, no plans, just Church. Monday, Jake has Summer camp if we take him, but Travis and I are both off. Not sure what we're gonna do yet. Tuesday Travis has to work but we are doing Stacy's birthday and BBQ i guess. I really need to figure out what to get her for her birthday. Tomorrow. Well, it's almost amc time. Have a great holiday.

Whole lotta angry face

The biggest part of my job is planning meetings and our convention. This is also why I love my job! Our convention this year is the week after labor day (yeah, btw, no blogging that week) at the Renaissance Orlando resort at SeaWorld. Basically I plan a $150,000 party for 300 of our closest friends. The problem is that the hotel will be under construction at that time. This property is normally beautiful... here, go look http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/mcosr?WT_Ref=mi_left
the big huge open atrium (which 10 floors of rooms have a view of) will be under construction. There will be a BOX around the aviary and deli and koi pond. We will have a beautiful view of CONSTRUCTION WORKERS!!! 2 of their 4 ballrooms will be down, the deli will be moved into the 3rd ballroom and their big restaurant will be down and squashed into their small restaurant. BEAUTIFUL! So I loaned my ladyboss my angry voice to call them and complain and ask them to delay construction for a month. We have had this contract for 3 years. SO, now we are working on either getting $ concessions or moving the event to another location. I have been planning this so far since April. I am flexible, and can plan it elsewhere in the time I have, and I am more for that since no amount of money can fix ugly (in a hotel that is).

So, it has been tense and we have been throwing around a lot of options, and now it's hurry up and wait. URG, this is frustrating, but exciting at the same time. I would like the challenge of moving it to another place, but the Orlando CVB has been phenominal and had SOOO many brochures sent to me from local businesses. I had the Sterling Cruise lines not only send me 300 comp cruises but also 300 decks of cards. If we move convention to Ft Myers, the other side of FL will not see much of our business, but what can you do. Moving on.

I have been working on the baby hat. It's about 1.5 inches long, but that is when you uncurl the curly bit.

Here's a pic of a neighbour-around-the-corner's duck. They have a sign on their front fence that says bad dog. I have never seen a dog but when we walk past the yard, the duck quacks quite loudly and meanly. I think the sign meant to say Bad Duck. Dont think they sell them at the True Value. Of course blogger hates me, so click here: http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a250/brandeekins/duck.jpg

Thirteen Things about Brandee
13 Ice creams

13. Bo’s Upside Down Banana Split. This is my absolute favorite ice cream creation. Unfortunately it is only available on the other side of town. This wondrous creation comes in sizes from small (think large soda) to 5 gallon bucket. No, really. I can only eat a small, and that is 1 Styrofoam cup, pile of vanilla soft serve, pile of chocolate soft serve, macerated strawberries, pineapple chunks, chopped bananas, chocolate syrup, whip cream, nuts and a cherry. $3.29. Heaven in a cup.
12. Edy’s cherry chocolate chip
11. Edy’s Samoas ice cream (love those girl scout cookies!)
10. Ben & Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk
9. Ben & Jerry’s The Godfather
8. Dove, the caramel one with the chocolate thing on top
8. Heath crunch bars
7. Disney’s chocolate frozen bananas
6. Wendy’s frosty
5. Chocolate Malt shakes
4. Cookies & cream
3. Cookie dough
2. Klondike bars

Sorry about the MIA thing

Ok, lets see, Friday night I went to the station to hang out with Tracie and work on Mom's top. I blocked it when I got home. I had feline help and had I not gotten angry and swatted him away I would have thought to take a pic of him because it really was funny.
Here's the top blocking:

Saturday I made Jake's cake and worked on other party things. Also some cleaning.

Sunday was the party itself, and my mom's birthday. I can talk about the after party now since it's past, but I planned a suprise party for her in the evening with my Grandparents and step-dad. It went pretty well, and was at my grandparents house. Wait, i'm ahead of myself.

We drove to the marina, it was scary and rainy and we were worried but once we got closer the sun appeared and we were happy. When we got there I went ahead and gave my mom her gifts:

The top of course and we got her a new digital camera. She was suprised and even asked me if it was real. Silly silly mom. It was to replace the one she had which actually writes to a floppy disk, it's kinda old, and needed a replcement!

Then we set sail, and went to this little island. It was occupied and we fully expected to find some bodies. There were tents and you could still smell the put out fire, and food was on the tables. Looks like they had been there a while, and were terribly messy. We found a suitable tree for the pinata and it went over well, with only one bubble thing breaking. Yes, I would be the dumbass that put something liquid in the pinata and give small children something hard with which to whack it. But in my defence, they were plastic containers and only one broke. Then back to the boat for lunch and cake, and back to the dock for presents before it started raining. We really did have a blast and we were so blessed that the weather cooperated. There are too many pics to put here so I will put them in a yahoo album. You can see them here: http://photos.yahoo.com/brandeekins

Babyville - wow, lots to catch up on, here goes: The ongoing process of baby's organ development is called organogenesis. Baby's hands are more developed than feet, and arms are longer than legs. 11 weeks LMP, baby's back straightens and everything continues to grow. Mother's develop a large increase in blood content to help the baby (blah blah eat iron, blah blah) Baby's eyelids are shut over developing eyes. Baby weighs .25 ounces or 7 grams. Baby is now 1.61 inches or 4.1 cm long.

Blogger hates me

Again. No pics today, unless I can post them in later. And this was supposed to be ALL ABOUT the pictures. Damn blogger. Anyway... Wait, I can cheat. Sorry for the inconvience of actually having to click the photo links but it's the best i can do now. And trust me, they are worth it. Well, maybe not the one of me, but you know.

2 days of no blogging sucks:

Wednesday: Work, crochet group. There was some kind of event at USF where we were gonna have our crochet meeting so we went to Perkins. Much to Tracie's dismay because she was hoping she was gonna meet someone there and we are apparently an embarassment. Well, not just apparently. Anywho, so we went to Perkins, for a couple hours and had LOTS of fun, much laughing and carrying on. Good thing it was kinda slow or I'm sure we woulda been booted from there! There was a table of cops near us and they were laughing as much as we were, so we were good. Dani kept laughing because one of the cop's phone kept ringing and the tone was from Full Metal Jacket saying "What is Your Major Malfunction?" She cracked up every time it rang. She kept saying that she was gonna get that ring for herself. Yeah, no girly girl there. Tracie brought the gnome with her, oh, I didnt tell you about the gnome did I?
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a250/brandeekins/2006_0622Image0001.jpg
Last crochet meeting at Borders Tracie had went to get something and came back with a tiny little box with a tiny little gnome in it. And since I think they LIKE my traveling sock idea but dont know how to knit socks, they wanted something to use as a replacementsock. The gnome won and he will take turns with each of us and wander around with us. This next week he's going to Washington DC with Dani. He's terribly excited. Moving on. So with Tracie, the gnome enjoyed the inside of her purse. He missed seeing sights since she didnt have a camera with her. The gnome was supposed to be watching her and her brother move in their apartment, but you know, life sometimes happens and they couldnt find the box the camera was in. The gnome wasn't much help.

He did come with us to group so Dani could take him, and this is where his real adventure began. Dani and I both took pics, I, luckily, got his front side. There would be recripricol blogging if she blogged, but no. Look, a little suitcase, i'm sure a mint is in there. Sorry for the bad movie reference.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a250/brandeekins/2006_0622Image0002.jpg
I was going to take a nice pic of him with Tracie, then he suffered an accident. He was posing on top of the coffee thermos and I accidently knocked him off when I tried to grab him. Purely accidental, I swear. I laughed so hard I cried.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a250/brandeekins/2006_0622Image0003.jpg
Not just a little dampness, real tears streaming down my face. It was humerous, but luckily it was one of those deep down, silent, hard to breath laughs so we didn't alarm the cops.

Thursday: Not a lot going on except the internets hated our office. It was explainable really, we had our backup company taking a whole image of our server and all 8 computers and apparently this takes a few days. It goes very slow. And it slows up everything else too.

I did see this cool bumper sticker though: http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a250/brandeekins/2006_0622Image0004.jpg
And in case you cant see it well, there are smiley's on that number. The top smiley has a mouth that looks like he's saying O, and the bottom one has a tounge out. Not g rated, but terribly funny.

Sucky Thursday 13

The internets hate the WHOLE OFFICE, so i'm gonna pray hard that this makes it on. This is a "You Play Along" Thursday 13. Think of 13 Vile things to say to my computer. That's it. Just 13 of them. Stupid Machine.

Sorry, more tomorrow (I hope).

This is day 2 of the horribleness that is an internet that doesnt work. I have pics and stuff to share, and I HATE this.

Tuesday

Jake's b-day shindig at the Fondren's went well. I think that was THE most unhealthy meal I have eaten in a LONG time. For starters we had rotel dip (queso basically), then chile dogs, fries (fried ones), tempura battered veggies (broccoli, carrots, onions, mushrooms) and coleslaw which I dont like. And cake. I felt horrible all last night. Here are some pics.

Whole pile of gifts (and Stacy, and half of Uncle Jason)

Trouble - the game, not the kid. Well, uh, never mind.

Pirate cake. Publix, not me.

Babyville has been ignored until I caught up. Yesterday was 10 weeks, and I may experience bleeding gums due to hormones and increased blood flow, and sciatic-nerve pain. Tomorrow's better, promise.

What an adventure!

Happy birthday to my favorite 5 year old! Boy has he come a long way!

Here is how Jake spent his last day as a 4 yr old: He's getting really good at swimming and has no qualms at all about jumping in from the deep end and can even walk on his hands! He's like a little fish, and it makes me happy!

Tonight we are going back to the Fondren's for a family birthday party with chile dogs and pirate cake. Presents and swimming. It'll be fun.

Guess I'm going backwards... Friday my boss installed my new keyboard tray on my desk. YEAY Lance! I found this terribly amusing.
Measure twice, cut once.

My REALLY messy desk with Lance's feet sticking out the bottom.

HEHEHE. Hysterical. Gigglefits when I was taking the pictures.

Moving on. Yesterday was Father's Day and My Grandmother's birthday. We went to Granny's house on Saturday, and yesterday was at the Fondren's doing my normal Father's Day routine. But this time, thanks to a little ingenuity on Granny's part and the lovely latex gods, my hands do not still stink of liver. 4 times a year I have vowed to my husband that I will make Leiber knoedel. This foul concoction involves a big bowl of stale bread, a few eggs, some seasoning and purreed liver, of which I do the purreeing. Then like normal meatballs you put your hands in, squash it around a bit, form a ball and drop it in boiling beef stock. And because it is liver, it stinks. It makes my hands stink. FOR 3 DAYS! When I was telling Granny, Pop Pop and my Mom about my dilemma they suggested taking some of Granny's latex gloves. BRILLIANT.

Joann's is my bestest friend

Not only did Joann's have the yarn I needed, but they also had the same dye lot - 2 skeins of it, just like I needed. Yippee!!!!! I worked a bit on the project, but I still have a ways to go. I pray, and pray hard, that it gets done in time.

That's really it, not much to report.

Babyville: Between now and week 12 is the time for chorionic villus sampling test - if you need one. This test checks for abnormalitits afflicting the fetus.

Thursday, June 15, 2006

Whole lot of nothin

Lets see, Walmart did not have my yarn, so tonight I try Joann's. We went to the in-laws for tacos. YummmmmO. Tonight Travis works so it'll be just me. Hope Travis leaves me the computer, though I dont know how much chatting i'll be doing with 50% of my at-home chatting people will be out, but who knows. Hopefully Joann's will have my yarn and I can watch some stupid girl movie - OOH, or an evening with Kevin Smith - that's always good, and hopefully get some of the you know what done for you know who. Actually, I guess you dont know what, but oh well. 10 days and counting, we'll see if I can pull it off.

Babyville: yes, I know you've heard it before but oh well. Baby weighs .07 ounces or 2 grams, and is about 0.9 inches or 2.3 cm in legnth.

Thursday 13

Thirteen Things about Brandee
13 Friends of my life (sorry, it’s a long one)

13. Amy – has been my best friend for a long time, even though we’ve drifted apart. I really do wish her happiness, and pray for her strength and wisdom.
12. Tracie – has been one of my best friends for a short time, a year now I guess. In that time we’ve come close and I treasure her insight and think she shares that.
11. Dani – I met Dani the same day as Tra, and I have come to value her judgement and the way she dispenses wisdom, in that ‘only Dani could do’ way.
10. Chuck – My first real boyfriend’s Dad. I have loved Chuck as a friend since the day I met him on my 13th birthday. He has always been there to listen to my boy-crazed, half-baked, stupid-kid stories. He listened every time I told him “but this guy’s different, no really”, and made me feel better when that guy really wasn’t different. I don’t spend much time with him, and I do miss it, but he will always be one of my bestest, oldest friends.
9. Mom – Mom and I have had such an up and down relationship, but in the last 10 years it has grown in to a solid friendship. We value each other in a way that is beyond compare, and I am so thankful to have her in my life.
8. Travis – My husband is my #1 best friend, and knows me well. We keep each other grounded with the sanity that is real life, but help each other reach our goals. I can’t wait to see what life has in store for us.
7. Damarys – Of all the friends I have, she knows me the best, probably because I see her every weekday. And although I am more of a giver than taker of advice in our relationship, I feel like she keeps me young.
6. Kerry – There has been only 1 other person that I have clicked with so well and so fast as Kerry. We have so much in common, good and bad, and it’s kinda eerie. Although this friendship just started, I’m sure it will be there for a good long time.
5. Bridget – This is the other person. Bridget and I met and shared a bed, Travis’ bed, in the same day. (the guys were sleeping on the couch, and it was in his parents house, and not like THAT!) That night we talked and giggled like children about everything from Little House on the Prairie to Nickelodeon, to family traditions. We don’t get together as often as I’d like, but when we do… it’s like no time has passed.
4. Jennifer – It’s been a while since I’ve seen Jen, but it’s like that with us. We had been best friends since Jr High School, and lost touch and found each other so many times. The last time I ‘found’ her she was living less than 2 miles from me (and still is). Strange.
3. Jonathan – I met Jonathan when I was 9. I was a very, um, precocious 9. Over the many, many years I have lost and found him many times, or rather, was found by him. I know his voice from the first hello, though I don’t think he believes that, especially when after a few years of no contact he called me and I told him to call me right back because I had to pee. Didn’t know he was calling me from Korea. Whoops!
2. Ryan – Ryan was a HS friend that I also miss dearly and have been trying to hunt down. I have found an address in Tulsa that I think he may still live at and have sent him a letter to no avail. I hope that changes soon, I miss him too.
1. David – Now David makes me crazy. He was probably one of my best guy friends during Jr High and HS and even after for a while. I have found his number and called it many times, but now I think he’s up and moved to San Fran. Wonder if he’s trying to avoid me? Hrm.

The standoff...

Because blogger STILL hates me, here is the pic of the Standoff (I hope):

See, Baloo's looking at me, Chewy is looking at Baloo. It's funny really.

You're damn skippy it worked. I think i scared it. tee hee.

And seeing my crochet tote there reminded me that I should do a project update but because its a suprise for a son-to-be-50-yr-0ld Mom I know, i'd better not. Lets just say that I had better find more Lustersheen pretty darn quick or it aint gettin done by 6/25. Just sayin. Cheers.

Oh, and backward babyville (sigh...): Baby's brain can be seen in fetal photography. INtestines have formed outside the baby because they cant fit inside yet. [wow, it's like deja vu]

Wednesday, again

Today has been a long dull day. So for all of our sanities, I will talk about yesterday.

Last night we went to the in-laws to fetch our child and go home for chicken legs. He didnt want to go and we had to bribe him with bringing the dog with us so my MIL could go to work (on her vacation)(at night) to get some work done without help from the 4 yr old. We went home, made dinner, and watched Ella Enchanted. Yeah, sorry, along with bad taste in music, I also have terrible taste in movies. Anyway, that was not the only entertainment.

Penis Plants - These little beauties grow in our back yard and I dont know what to call them except penis plants. You'll understand when you see the pics. We just had our first few blooms, and while penis plant #1 is all splated from Alberto (said Albairto) Penis plant #2 was just fine. People always think i'm crazy for calling them that but no, really:

Let's climb the pallate thing up the tree with ants and mosquitos - When Jake came off this tree he had 2 bites on one arm, 3 on a leg and one behind his ear. They were big and red and ugly. And I had no benedryl. Thank goodness Mamaw had some of the Benedryl cream at her house.

The stand-off - So I told you we brought the dog to our house, and he realy is a great dog. A mostly chow foundling, Baloo (for the bear resembelance) is so laid back that if I could clone him I would. He walks into the house, looks in the general direction of the cat and keeps walking on. Chewy, taking HIGH offense to this, hisses at him. Then follows him and is never more than 2 feet away when he is inside. I also think that if the cat were allowed outside he would have followed him there too. This is what it was like - the dog would go somewhere, the cat would follow him and inch closer and closer, take a swat at him and the dog would whine, then move somewhere else. This kept going the whole time he was there. This was what the standoff looks like: Never mind, blogger is back to hating me. Let me try to edit it in. FINE, i'll have to post it seperatly. URG!!!

Apparently it's normal.

So I had my docs appt this morning and I took the opportunity to complain about my sonographer. I dont think I told the blog about Embarassing Moment #562, but a couple weeks ago I had to have an ultrasound, and since I am really early in my pregnancy they cant do it the normal over the belly way, they have to use, um, alternate technology. This alternate technology is called 'transvaginal' meaning, um, they look from the inside, using a long skinny stick like device with a condom like sheath over top and a ultrasound thing on the end. Well, this was my 5th such procedure in my lifetime, and this was the first time that the sonographer had me, um, insert my own device. With Travis standing right there. And my feet in stirups. It was very uncomfortable and difficult and embarassing. Every other person I've spoken to about this thought that the woman was possibly crazed to think this was ok. I have a sonographer friend that also found it disturbing. So when I mentioned it to the doc this morning, she said that some sonographers do that to make the patient feel more comfortable. Apparently it's normal. Um, no. It creeped me out. Just sayin. Moving on.

They did move my due date, I am now due 1-15-07, making me 9 weeks 3 days. I will have to re-configure the pregnancy calendar to reflect that and I will start doing babyville news as it relates to the new dates. URG, now i'll NEVER have the baby in December. Oh well.

Travis and Jake had a nice, wet day together yesterday. They went to a 1:30 Cars, then to Sams to get a few things we needed. They also came home with this:

We had pork chops, rice and gravy and corn last night, he had a few cheesy poof balls and then we took him to his Grandmothers house to spend the night since he's on vacation from summer camp this week. I stole a banana and 2 pears from her house, made a banana split last night and brought a pear for second breakfast that I will be eating soon.

That's it for now.

Blogger hates me

I stole this from Drew ( www.thecrochetdude.blogspot.com ) because I thought it was funny and would be fun. I do not own an ipod, but I do have my media play stock full of my kind (weird, eclectic) music so I thought i'd play along. However, since Blogger hates me and will not allow me to actually LOOK at my blog (not a problem for others though, i'm told) please tell me if this looks all wonky! Thanks.

The way it works:
1. Put your iPod on shuffle.
2. Press forward for each question.
3. Use the song title as the answer to the question.

How am I feeling today? I Remember You - Skid Row (Guess i'm a bit nostalgic, no suprise there)

Will I get far in life? How Does It Feel - Avril Lavigne (It starts off I'm not afraid of anything, I just need to know that I can breathe which i guess is a good answer since breathign = life?)

How do my friends see me? Thief of Hearts - Bon Jovi (fitting since most of my friends are ex boyfriends)

When will I get married? Jenny - Less Than Jake (No clue, I used to know a Jenny and I have a child named Jake, but that's all I got)

What is my best friend's theme song? You Dont Know What You've Got Til It's Gone - Cinderella (depending on the friend, this would apply quite nicely)

What is the story of my life? Devils And Angels - Toby Lightman (LOL, there you have it)

What was high school like? It's Out Of My Heart - The Party ( I loved this group, from the Mickey Mouse Club [i know, i'm a dork] during hs, and I did date, um, a few people)

How am I going to get ahead in life? Somebody That I Used To Know - Elliott Smith (wow, maybe I really do need to keep searching for old friends)

What is the best thing about me? Show Biz? Science? Who Cares - Less Than Jake (this cracked me up but I dont know why)

How is today going to be? Life Goes On - LeAnn Rimes (as with every other day I suppose)

What is in store for this weekend? Cover Me - Candlebox (maybe I should start getting excited now?)

What song describes my parents? Ready to Run - Dixie Chicks (well, since they are divorced and 1500 miles away from eachother, that fits)

What song describes your grandparents? I'm Gonna Be Somebody Someday - Travis Tritt (Um, well, one of my grandfathers was elected as the NY State Commander to the American Legion, does that count?)

How is my life going? I Fell In Love With Jack Daniels Again - Miranda Lambert (does this mean i'm drunk when not pregnant?)

What song will they play at my funeral? Take it on Faith - Joshua Kadison (That's kinda sweet)

How does the world see me? What Might Have Been - Ray [but stolen from Little Texas] (I guess some people, including me will always wonder what would have happened if...)

Will I have a happy life? Chosen - Skin Job (the words are hard to understand to know what exactly they are saying)

What do my friends really think of me? Lovers - Kinleys (LOVE this song, um but it talks about a good bit of revenge but loving the dude anyway. And cherry lip gloss. :) )

Do people secretly lust after me? Keep me Hanging On - Kim Wilde (Is that a yes?)

How can I make myself happy? Loving Arms - Dixie Chicks (what a depressing song for this question)

What should I do with my life? Long Time Gone - Dixie Chicks (Move to Nashville? OK?)

Will I ever have children? Mr Wendell - Arrested Development (Hrm?)

What is my signature dancing song? When There's No One Around - Garth Brooks (fitting since I really cant dance)

What do I think my current theme song is? Baby Girl - Sugarland (Maybe I really do need to move to Nashville?)

What does everyone else think my current theme song is? You Move Me - Garth Brooks (I move who?)

What type of men/women do you like? History of a Boring Town - Less Than Jake (about old friends again... I see a pattern)

What kind of kisser are you? Grain of Salt - Toby Keith (forgettable I guess)

What's your style? Don't Waste Your Heart - Dixie Chicks (Um, maybe that should have been for the one above?)

What kind of lover are you? Good Riddance - Green Day (damn, didnt think I was THAT bad!)

What would be playing on a first date? You Go First - Jessica Andrews (wow, one that fits - it's about making the first kiss move)

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Taking It Back - Bon Jovi (Cool)

Stoopid blogger.

Here's the pic of Alberty AGAIN out my front office door:

Beautiful ain't it!

Sick, Tired & Wet

Yep, I feel craptastic, and have for 3 days now, i have so much gak in my chest that spitting it out has become a full time job. And it's making my gag reflex work overtime. I am also well over the coughing, just so we're clear. I have been resting most of the weekend, not really doing anything but i'm still pretty tired. Coughing wakes me up, so it's a vicious cycle. Robatussin DM is my friend, a friend which of course I left at home.

Anyway, my weekend... Friday I went to the in-laws, and Tracie met me there to get her fairy. She loved it, so did I. We hung out there for a bit watching Jake swim then play with the demon child down the street (no, really, he's evil.) Then we went back to my place which was only slightly horrible looking, we talked and ate ice cream (Jake out of his new bowl which he loved) and I think a good time was had by all. When Tra left me at 930, she was meeting up with the guy. They had fun, though not that kind, until 430. !!. Anyway, its getting interesting over that way. And hysterically funny to watch. Anyway moving on.

Saturday Jake and I went to the Fondrens after Travis left for work, they were making steak and who am I to say no! Jason & Stacy were there and it was fun. We hung out, played, ate. I thought it was so funny that the guys (Papaw, Jason & Jake) were concentrating so hard that I had to take a pic:

Well! Jake was not pleased that I was using 'his' camera and promptly took it away and started shooting pics of his own. I didnt know how many he had taken until this morning when I dumped the pics on the computer for this entry. There were 40 on there, I had taken 2. Someone else had taken 2 (of Jake so i was pretty sure it wasnt him). He took 36! And because I know you may want to see them, but not all at once, I put them in a yahoo book. Go Here: http://photos.yahoo.com/brandeekins and click on the one that says Jake's Pics. You will see all the, um, interesting pics that my child took. I'll try to give them names later on.

Sunday I felt like crap and didnt want to go out so Jake & Travis went with the in-laws to Downtown Disney to look for a pirate costume, and failed. Then they were gonna go to MGM for the last day of Star Wars Weekends but their passes had started the black out date, and they didnt want Travis to use one of his Main Gate passes (as an employee he can get up to 3 people in 12 times a year). So they came home. Thats it.

Alberto came to visit us today. This is what it looks like out my work front door: Never mind, it wont let me do it. Let me post this then try again.

Babyville from today and over the weekend: Kidneys become functional and baby urinates into amniotic fluid. Sex organs begin to develop. Baby may begin to move though it's much to small to feel yet.

Doc appt tomorrow at 9am for a checkup on the baby. I may be able to hear the baby's hearbeat. I'll let you know.

pottery stuff

I got the pottery stuff that Tracie and I made. Here's Jake's ice cream bowl and Tracie's Fairy:

That's it, now back to my smoothie, AMC and crocheting.

Friday

Thank GOD!!! I am so tired. Last night would have been a good candidate for sleeping through the night until Jake had a bad dream at 4am. So off to the couch with me and what is it wht the cat that he can find so much SHIT to play with in the middle of the night. ANd the squirt bottle hasnt been working very well, because within 3 minutes he's back at what i squirted him away from before. Urg. SOO sleepy. Anyway, last night Jake wanted to watch Teen Titans, and I, um, didnt so I packed him off to my bedroom. This is what I found half hour later:

See, I told you he sleeps with the baby's blanket.

Anyway, I was up chatting until after 10 with Ray and Dani & Tracie, not all together. No I probably should have went to be much earlier than that, but it was fun. I got like 3 rows done on my mom's b-day thing (no, not telling since she may be nosy and read this), and then I found it on the floor hookless and i think that was one of the things the cat was playing with. I am eternally thankfull he doesnt have claws. And I think that only half a row was lost. I brought that with me to day since Mom's b-day is 6/25 and baby isnt here until January so the baby hat can wait a bit I think.

Today I go get my Jakey bowl, I'm excited about that, and I cant wait to see what it looks like now that it's all fired. They claim that the pink I used is red, and I am REALLY hoping that's the case because Jake being a boy is not so much liking the pink. Just sayin. Then, who knows for this evening, probably close to the same as last night. I hate this time of year when there's nothing on tv. Oh well. Travis did, um, get Princess Diaries 2 for me the other day, maybe i'll watch that. I know, I know. Yes, I know.

I completely forgot babyville yesterday, oops!
Thurs: Baby's brain can be seen in fetal photography. Intestines have formed outside the baby (on the umbilical cord) because they can't fit inside yet.
Fri: Baby weighs .07 ounces or 2 grams and is about .9 inches or 2.3 cm in legnth.
--Hey, like a peanut!

Have a fantastic weekend.

Tracie and I slaving away at our projects...

I thought this may be a little uncomfortable for the fairy, but that's just me.

Wednesday

Jake got his report card, and he did much better. Now he only needs improvement in 3 areas, instead of ALL of them in the first quarter!
I've made a little spreadsheet for you to see. Let's hope this works, it involved technology and crazy downloads to convert xls to jpg. Yeah! It worked. Another work-around through paint and we're golden. I dont want to attempt to try to make it smaller, that's just asking for something crazy to happen.

So as you can see, his behavior leaves MUCH to be desired, but all the actual school knowledge stuff he's good at. Figures.

But, he did pass, and I do have proof!

Nothing in Babyville to report.

Oh, and more weird dreams

I dont know what it is, maybe the baby hormones, but I had a dream that I had a phone call from drew (crochet dude) this morning and he made me late to work. I know, weird. That's it.

random stuff

Lets see, yesterday I finished up the booties and started on a baby hat, my goal is to make a whole going home outfit. Handy that the baby is due in Jan when yarn clothes are appreciated! We went out last night with my in-laws, went to Sam Seltzers for supper - I had a lobster. I dont know if I've ever had a lobster before, those suckers are hard to break into. There were a couple spots I had to have Travis help me because I wasnt stronger than the lobster. It was good though! Then we went to the mall - while they were at the Disney store I went to the Mommy store, got 2 pairs of pants and some undies. Then to Penney's, travis got 3 pairs of shorts and a bathing suit, Jake got some jammies and a beach towel. Papaw tried on a hat, it were funny. Jake wanted to take a pic: Then home, and sleep.

Today I came in and actually almost got sick. I didnt, but almost. It wasnt pleasant. We have a meeting with the work shirt lady in a half hour, i look forward to this part of the year, 2 new shirts for free! I brought a pear in for 2nd breakfast, and I accidentally brought in 2 mac n cheese lean cuisines. I meant to bring 1 regular meal and a back up mac n cheese... oops. And on tonights menu... shephards pie. YummmmmmO.

Tomorrow is crochet group, it's been a while so i'm really looking forward to that. Guess I need to find something to crochet since I doubt they'll let me knit on my baby hat. knit snobs!

Babyville: 9 weeks LMP (7 wks gestation) you may find your labido has changed, you will either not want to have, er, relations, or your drive will increase. (aside: I'm hoping that my boob-achiness will subside soon so that I can have a labido again. Just sayin.)

Um,

Whoops, I forgot

Babyville: Embryo becomes a fetus! Congratulations, all organs necessary to sustain life are formed.

That is all.

Pottery Patch

Oh what fun we had on Friday at the Pottery Patch! I made Jake an ice cream bowl with an adorable lizzard with puffed up tounge in the bottom, then his name and some stripey's around the top. Of course I forgot to take a pic of my finished pre-firing item, oops! I get to pick it up on Friday, and I'll be sure to show you then! Here are some pics of the evening though...

Me & Tracie - self portrait, Damarys & Pamela - our hosts, Damarys & Pamela working, Tracie working on her Fairy, Fairy closeup, some recipricol blogging but Damarys doesnt have a blog.

Nothing else really this weekend. Oh, I did finish the baby blanket, and Jake promptly confiscated it. He knows its for the baby and I think he only took it to be closer to the baby. He is so excited! Today i'll finish up bootie(2). Guess that's it.

Weird dreams and baby stuff

I had the most bizarre dream last night, actually this morning between snoozes. Me, Travis and Jake were in a field parking lot - like at the fair and both the truck and care were there. We get in the car and Jake doesnt get in. so Travis starts driving, leaving him there standing in the field expecting him to take the car and drive it, since we had somehow ended up in the truck. So Jake gets in the car and starts driving, but Travis realizes this is a bad idea with my screaming and all, and slows down to the side of the road to let him catch up. I see behind us 2 big rigs that are starting to fishtail and I start freaking out because I cant see Jake in the car, then I woke up. Really strange things: Jake was driving the car - he's 4. He was 4 in the dream. He KNEW how to drive the car. Reasons for the dream: 2 days ago we put his door not on childlock so he can open his own door. He has been able to get in and put his seatbelt on for a few weeks now, and he knows to wait until I turn the car off before he can unbuckle and get out, and he's been being good with it. But I think that that little bit of grown up freedom has freaked my little system out. Weird.

Anyway, moving on. Went for the ultrasound yesterday, we saw the baby's heartbeat and everything looks healthy. And, yes - 1 baby. They said that I'm measured 7 weeks 3 days, which is a week earlier than my lmp date which will suck if/when they move my due date from 1/8 to 1/15. Then I will REALLY have no chance of having the baby this year. I have another OB appt on 6/13, and I'm sure they will tell me then.

Here's the baby, a little froglike but still:

That is baby's head on the upper right side, feet/tail on the bottom left.

On the calander today (I'll change dates if they change the due date): Your partner isnt making it up that they are having a sympathetic pregnancy. Couvade is a condition that causes weight gain, nausea, mood swings and all the rest in daddy too! Poor Travis.

Tonight is pottery here: http://www.potterypatchstudio.com/ and i'm excited about it, it will be a load of fun. Not really anything planned this weekend which is good. Travis and his Dad got the shed done yesterday so we may start clearing crap out of the garage. Yippee.

Thursday 13

Thirteen Things about Brandee

13 Things I’ve learned about hurricanes while living in Florida

13. I learned what happens when you make fun of another state’s blackout
12. Cell phones work when land lines are down, but only as long as the battery is charged.
11. A 7 lb bag of ice will chill 6 bottles of Bud to a drinkable temp in 11 minutes, and keep a 14 lb turkey frozen for 8 more hours.
10. Coffee, frozen pizza and Spaghetti O’s can be made on a BBQ grill
9. TV is an addiction, and withdrawal symptoms are painful
8. People will get into a line that has already formed even without knowing what it’s for
7. When required, a Lincoln Continental will float – wont steer really well, but will float all the same.
6. Some things DO keep the mailman from his appointed rounds
5. Tree service companies are under appreciated
4. Your waterfront property can quickly become someone else’s fishing hole
3. There are a LOT of trees around here
2. No matter how many times you flick the switch, the lights don’t work without electricity
1. (my favorite) Drywall is a compound word. Take away the “dry” part and it’s worthless.

Happy Hurricane Season, be safe!
