Scarf done, sorta

Well, except for the fringe. I plan on putting 3 very long 4 strand doubled fringes on each end. That's how Stephanie did hers and that's how i'll do mine since it was soo cute for her. I'd have it done already but I ran out of yarn. I have 2 skeins left at home of the Jewel Box, and I was thinking of making a hat, we'll see. I took a couple pics w/my phone, here they are. One of the whole thing next to my water (it's a big bottle, 1 L) and the other w/a paperclip to show the size.

That's it, I just wanted to say that it's done - yippee.

It's Friday

And the bosses are out and I have no real work to do. I've blogstalked, pogo'd, griddled, wandered and eaten a doughnut (after my weight control oatmeal which, incidently, tastes like ass) (no I dont know how I know what ass tastes like). Tra, my crochet buddy, called me and told me she has no internet at work today so i cant chat with her. I saw dani log on, and maybe i'll chat with her in a bit. I could be working on the little skinny scarf I started yesterday during amc, but I have to at least LOOK like I'm working, so here I am.

Project Update: chenille afghan - I worked on it a bit at Wednesday's meeting, it's about 3 feet long now. It's really soft and cozy and I love working on it because I dont have to think about it which is very nice. Baby set - I finished the jacket for the most part, I need to get buttons (or scavange buttons) and weave in the ends. I couldnt do that here because I didnt bring my cult case (rolling yarn tote) which has my yarn needles in it. This will be saved for another day when I need to feel like I've accomplished something (even though this little task will only take like 20 minutes). - I started the bonnet in the pattern book, and it looks like mt everest instead of a hat so I've momentarily given up on it, at least until I have a day where I can frog it back out and start again. Christening Set - I actually brought the dress in here to show Sue the temp. It seems small, I know it fit my doll, but to look at it now... I'm not sure. I still have the top of 1 bootie to do on that set, then add the ribbon to the booties & bonnet. Socks - yeah, well, you know. I did one sock (pasting together 2 patterns - the one that doesnt make sense from the calander and another one for the actual body stitches. I like the calander idea of starting at the toe, working your way up and skipping the heel until afterwards. It fit until I tried to put the heel on, now it's like an inch too big. SOOOO, I will eventually have to rip out the heel and try again. Why is it so difficult to make a sock pattern that makes SENSE!!! I only say that because I'm not actually writting the patterns. Grandma & Pop Pop's 50th Anniversary Vow Renewal Cake - Yeah, I know it's not exactly a crochet project but it is due tomorrow. Last night I made 2 batches of icing - the actual icing kind and the making flowers and other crap kind. They are both now resting comfortable in my fridge. Tonight I will make at least 4 of the 6 layers of cake needed (2 6", 2 8 or 9", 2 10 or 12"). Since I can fit 2 layers in my oven at a time but only have 1 of every size except 2 8", it will take me a while. My M-I-L is keeping Jake tonight which is good since last night he kept looking for the cake in the oven (which wasnt there) and couldnt understand why I had made so much icing but no cake? Silly Mommy! Worried - yeah, a bit because it's been a couple years since I've made a real cake. I couldnt even get into it for Jake's b-day this year. Here's a pic of his last years cake:

I was so proud of that cake!

Anyway, Tracie just came online so I guess i'll post this and chat with her. Happy Hooking.

Commission done, but

I finished the whole commission - and gave her the dress today for Destiny (fixed) but she brought back the sweater vest because Dustin wouldnt wear it. So, I may just add sleeves and give it to Jake. I hope he likes it. Oh well, at least i know Destiny likes her dress, even if it was a little small. I'm sure she'll be able to wear it for a while now.

I've been working on the chenille throw, just v-stitch and i've got about 15 inches done. It looks very nice, and I may put it for sale instead of using it at home. $100 for a chenille throw that I've got $20 in at most? I'm only in the middle of my 2nd cake and it's that big, I dont think i'll need all of the yarn, so i was thinking of making a shawl. it's about that size now and it's really pretty. Something to think about anyway.

I still have the mohair baby dress in the bag not being worked on. Maybe i'll swap out between that and the throw. We'll see.

Guess that's it, have a good one.

Commission (part b) almost done

Here's the sweater vest so far. I just realized that the lines dont quite line up right, but I cant rip it out now. Sue likes it, and I think Dustin will too.
I had thought (briefly) about adding another white row to the sleeves, but I think it looks fine without it. I need to do 2 more fpdc/bpdc in blue on the bottom and then weave in ends... my favorite part - no, really. NOT!!! I want to make one for my son w/sleeves, we'll see, This one is actually looking like it'll fit - and (shh) I didnt do a guage swatch. I really REALLY need to start doing those. Maybe next time. tee hee. Well, that's it for now - happy day ya'll.

Commission (part a) finished... not so much

Well, Sue took the dress home and tried it on Destiny. She LOVED it but the top is too tight. So, i get to rip it out and redo the top. She did like the idea of chaning up the sleeves to cap sleeves too which is good. I've got the sweater front and back done, shoulders sewn together, and most of the neck ribbing done. just one row of white dcfp and dcbp and maybe another sc in blue but we'll see. then sew the sides and do the arm cuffs. I really do like the way it's turning out and so does Sue which is good. I know once Jake sees what it is he'll want one.

Commission (part a) finished

Well, I finished the pink dress for Sue's granddaughter. It doesnt look like the picture at all, and I think the top is a little small. I'll have her try it on and if it doesnt fit i'll redo the top. Here's a couple pics of it. It is supposed to be a size 4 (and I used simply soft ww instead of sport weight so it should have been bigger than a 4). URG.
On commission (part b) i've finished the back of the sweater vest and am about 5 or 6 inches up on the front. It is coming out very nice, and i'm thinking of making one (with sleeves) for Jake - especially since i'm seeing how to change the pattern to make it better.
