baby granny update

Well, I finished up the baby granny for the lady in Choir, except for the little border which is almost half done, that will be done at lunch, and hopefully i'll be able to weave in ends also. I'll give that to her Tuesday, hopefully she'll be able to put a cork in it until then! After that I'll work on finishing up the layette for Tony & Nette, I dont like the blanket that is in the pattern, so either I dont do a blanket or I do a different one. And since this layette is going to end up taking forFREAKINever to do, I may just not do a blanket, we'll see. After that I'll work on the Christmas ghan. I am pretty comfortable with all the stuff I have for the craft fairs, we'll see how the first one goes and if I need to make any replacement stuff. I was also thinking of doing something (no clue what yet) in Jake's school colors since the 2nd fair is at his school. Maybe bucket hats or scarves, but it seems too hot in FL for those. scrunchies? We'll see. I'll have to think on that.

layette update and some pics

I finished the little dress except for the flower applique'. I finished 1 bootie including the flower applique'. I then realized that I need to make a baby blanket for one of the gals I sing with at choir - she's due to pop in about 2 weeks! So, it'll be a granny baby blanket in pink white and mint. should be cute and I brought that with me today to start at lunch time.

I took some pics with my phone this morning of some of my recently completed projects, the scarves, pillowghan (in the pillow form) and the mint/blue baby blanket.

The actual colors in the pillow ghan didnt show - they are light/dark purple, medium sage, forest green, brown & light tan. The full throw is 3x4 squares that are about a foot and a half each.

Layette Pic

Here's the pic of the dress w/1 sleeve almost done, 1 bootie started and the book it all came from.

the layette

I finished the skirt of the baby dress, 1 sleeve and the bottom pink edging. Now 1 sleeve and the neck trim to go, then all the other stuff. I tried to do one of the flowers yesterday at lunch and failed miserably... i'll have to try something else. It is coming out nice though, i'll take a pic.

project update

Ok, yesterday was a finish stuff up day... which is good! I finished the black homespun scarf for my hopefully-soon-to-be-sister-in-law's brother, I also finished the pillowghan (YIPPEE!!!!!) that was hard because I didnt understand the diagram and had to fiddle with it for about 15 minutes before it looked like a pillow. Oh well, it worked. When it was done I showed it to Travis he said it's nice and would I be making another one. HELL NO!!! It took forever because of the changing colors every row and 2 rows of puff stitch. Now I should have finished the 2nd bootie for the Christening gown set, but didnt. I just worked on the little layette for Tony's wife, and thats what I brought to work today. Maybe I'll work on the flowers for it... but I still have about 7 rows on the dress skirt, then sleeves then the flowers and stems. THEN the jacket, other bootie ( started one), and hat. Theres a blanket too... but I dont really like it, so I'm not gonna do it. That's it for now... back to work.

Lets see

I finished the mint/light blue baby blanket, started on the layette and am begging green fingering from my crochet group that I have tonight. The layette is pretty slow going, i'm about 1/3 done with the dress (and that may be a little overstated), then the jacket, bonnet that I need to change, booties and blanket (dont think i'll get to the blanket but we'll see). The patterns are from a book called Baby Blooms Layette that I got at hellmart for like $3. I tried to steal a pic off the internet but failed! oh well, i'll take pics when (if) i'm done.

Homespun Scarf Pattern

I made it up, although it may exist out there i've never seen it. This nifty little scarf works up in about 4 or 5 hours (for me) and uses 1 skein of homespun.

1 skein homespun (any color)
J hook (Not F as previously posted - sorry)

Ch 17 (or any odd number)
sc in 2nd from hook. dc in next, sc, dc across. (should end in dc)
ch 1, turn, sc in 1st dc, dc in next, sc, dc across (should end in dc)
repeat until you run out of homespun.

project update

Let's see, I've gotten about a foot and a half done on the Christmas gift ghan for my son's God Parents, it's so nice to work on cause it's done in simply soft, and I brought that with me today to do at lunch.
I have been doing little scarves for the craft fair, super simple, and i'll post the pattern after this post. I have 2 finished and 1 almost finished, but i ran out of yarn and they didnt have it at walmart when i went last - i'll have to venture to joanns for it.
I also started a baby ghan (1 big granny square) in mint and light country blue (6 rows of each, 5 color changes), also done in simply soft. I bought some more mint and baby pink to make one also.
I bought a baby layette book to do a baby dress, jacket, bonnet, booties & blanket set for a friend thats having a baby. It looks like I'll have to play a bit with them but the book was only $3 at Walmart, so worth it. I had gotten like 8 skeins of jamie baby fingering for .30 a skein awhile back ago, and thats what i'm using - it's all white. i'll post pics when i'm done - the baby's due in december but mama's on bed rest now (at 22 weeks) for preterm labor so i need to get a move on. I'll start that once i'm done with the baby ghan i'm on now.
I have the yarn to finish up the pillowghan, but i dread it... soon though I promise! Maybe I should do that first so it can go in the craft fairs? hmm, have to think on that one!
STILL havent finished the bootie on the christening set, or put the ribbon in. I'm SOOO procrastinacious!

WIP list
pillow ghan
baby ghan (mint/blue)
christening set
black homespun scarf
Wayne & Karen's Christmas ghan
fingering baby ghan (that will be frogged to work on the layette)

bad bad bad bad bad bad!!!!!

I'll do a little more today at lunch, but I havent been able to catch up on sleep and my body is having yawn fits! More later.

Also 2 pics of Sunrise on Saturday. More later.

I got back home last night about 7 ate some easy mac and crashed. I got some of my God Parents afghan done on the trip down and for the first few days there, but by Thursday night I didnt pick up my hook again. On the trip back up I didnt do ANY and that's a 6 hour drive! I worked 82 hours between Tuesday morning at 8 and yesterday at 630. I am drained, at least the boss gives us today off, so at lunch time i'm picking up jakey and we're heading over to my moms for a short visit. I'll post some pics from the keys and more info and stuff probably tomorrow or wed from work. have a fantastic day.

Some Project updates

Ok, I finished the daisy hat and purse set (a purse for a newborn? oh well, it's cute), then I worked a little tiny bit on the granny baby afghan, did a boy stocking that I need to get ribbon for and started on the baby poncho set found http://geocities.com/crotiques/ponchoset.htm?200519 here in blue simply soft. I finished up the poncho in like 45 minutes last night and brought it in to do the hat and shoes today at lunch... or at least start on the hat. I finished all the flippity flops in the house an dfinally got around to taking pics of everything I finished lately - the rose hat, the daisy hat, the baby poncho, the black jewel purse (for Convention that turned out really really cute).

Sorry...

I havent been posting much, i've been crazy busy getting ready for convention. We leave for the keys on Tuesday and I'll be gone until Sunday. At least I have the 6 hour drive each way to get some crocheting done ;)! I've been pretty heartsick for all the hurricane people, I'm in the Tampa Bay area and we've been spared more than once in the past few years - last year we were hit by 2 and lost power for about a week each time and it took out a side of our fence and a few shingles. That's it. Very very blessed. My hubby has family in Gulfport and even they were lucky comparitivly speaking - tree hit the garage, pinning the car inside and destroying the car outside. Only one family member is still there - she's a nurse and on call. Everyone else got out and is in Destin. It seems like I just cant pray enough. Anyway, more later.
